“Yet if you devote your heart to him
    and stretch out your hands to him,
 if you put away the sin that is in your hand
    and allow no evil to dwell in your tent,
then, free of fault, you will lift up your face;
    you will stand firm and without fear.
You will surely forget your trouble,
    recalling it only as waters gone by.
Life will be brighter than noonday,
    and darkness will become like morning.
You will be secure, because there is hope;
    you will look about you and take your rest in safety.
You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid,
    and many will court your favor.

Job 11:13-19

As we enter this New Year, renew your covenant with God – a covenant of forgiveness, humility, simplicity, obedience, love. This is what we call a new beginning.

Like Job did, we need to come to the realization that life belongs to God. It does not belong to us. If life belonged to us, we could control it. We must live today as if it were our last day on earth. It is then that we will be sensitive to the voice of God in our heart.

God’s Spirit in our heart cries naturally Abba Father! This sense of fatherhood brings a natural basis for prayer because prayer is a relationship that exists between God and His children. Prayer is not yours – it is a relationship that is built. That is why we have to work on getting our heart in tune for prayer. To pray as God wants us to pray is the greatest achievement on earth. The life you live determines what you run your heart with. So, run your heart with the name Jesus – that is effective prayer.

Let God’s Word continue to run in your heart. Let His Word continue to run in your spirit. No matter what happens, no matter what comes, let nothing take you from His covenant.

THE LORD HAS CHASED YOUR ENEMY

“How many of us like the people within the dying city, struck by famine, give in to fear, desperation and refuse to venture outside when God has chased our enemy away? Fear can cripple and torment us, and rob us of life’s opportunities. How many minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and even years have been wasted due to fear.”

STEP INTO GOD’S PROMISE

“To step into God’s promise for your life, allow God’s Word to channel your way. Be sensitive to God’s voice in your heart and obey its leading and you will discover that every place you tread will be because God has destined it, in His purpose for you. God is faithful, and His promise still stands. (Psalm 119:89).”

YOUR TEST

“If we look back over our lives, we can see how God has led us through many wilderness situations and demonstrated His faithfulness, love, guidance and wisdom.
But when we are in the middle of a test, sometimes it is hard to recognise it.
The Israelites were not quick to perceive that their time of wilderness was a test. And what was God testing? Their hearts.
Our motives are weighed by the Lord. Jesus’ focus is the motive behind what we do – that is why God tests our hearts to reward us.”
