“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Matthew 6:27-30

Worry interferes with God’s Spirit in our lives and destroys our sense of judgment. The human spirit when free from the burden of worry, fear and sin is sensitive to the Spirit of God. Your heart needs to be at its best for God before you can pray. We often come before God with ungodly thoughts. That is why you have to consider the thoughts that are in the mind and the desires in the heart.  Are you worried about the past? Let it go! Are you worried about the future? Commit your future to God and Decide to let tomorrow be because each day God sends His loving aid to help and strengthen you.

First, you need to recognise that aid. It is already there for those who recognise it. Do you see the hand of God in your life? Do you know that no matter how you feel right now, someone wants to be where you are, someone wants to have what you have and someone wants to be like you? You were created to be a problem solver but God cannot use a discouraged servant. Despite the temptation to feel discouraged and worried, we must overcome such attitude as Christians.

How do we overcome? By saying about ourselves what the Bible says about us because the Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to bring peace to our heart.  Faith brings in restfulness with the knowledge that truly God is with us. A man or woman of faith always finds encouragement in that which is discouraging by drawing closer to God.

  • Are you sick? The Bible says in Isaiah 53:5that by His wounds you are healed.
  • Are you weak? The Bible says in Psalm 27:1that my God is the strength of your life.
  • Are you experiencing failure? The Bible says in Romans 8:37that you are more than a conqueror through Christ.
  • Are you trapped? The Bible says in John 8:36that the Son has set you free.
  • Are you facing lack? The Bible says in Philippians 4:19that my God shall supply all your needs.

Remember you are the greatest product of the Holy Spirit; your soul is so precious to God, so much more than the lilies of the field.

GOD FIRST

“Let’s take a lesson from David who was ready to be humiliated in his own eyes, so that God could be honoured. Ask yourself: Where does honouring God appear in your list of priorities? Do you thank Him for all that He has done in your life, all the way long? While men look at the outside, God looks at the motives of the heart. Instead of worrying about the opinion of others concerning you, let the motive of your heart each day be to honour God before yourself.”

THE SACRIFICE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

“There is no time to do what is right. We must set our heart to obey the Word of God, all the time. God’s kind of lifestyle calls us to do what is right in the sight of God at all times, even though it is contrary to what we naturally want to do. Choosing to do what is right is a great test to the flesh.

What is the sacrifice of righteousness? Choosing to do God’s will rather than our own. When our flesh says hate, God says love. It takes sacrificial love to love your enemy and to pray for them. These are the weapons of righteousness. This is the sacrifice that Jesus looks at and rewards. Even though that might not be a grand, or outward sacrifice, it is what Jesus values.”

LIFE ANEW

“When we talk of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are talking of the rare opportunity He has given to all believers to experience a new beginning – a situation in which every dead area of our lives receives life anew.

We are dead to our past and alive to our future. Sin’s power over us is broken and we now put on Christ’s new life: we live in Him, move in Him and have our being in Him. Herein lies the significance of resurrection.”
