THE WEAPON OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

ā€œI will hear what God theĀ LordĀ will speak,
For He will speak peace
To His people and to His saints;
But let them not turn back toĀ folly.
9Ā SurelyĀ His salvationĀ isĀ near to those who fear Him,
That glory may dwell in our land.ā€

10Ā Mercy and truth have met together;
Righteousness and peace have kissed.
11Ā Truth shall spring out of the earth,
And righteousness shall look down from heaven.
12Ā Yes, theĀ LordĀ will giveĀ what isĀ good;
And our land will yield its increase.
13Ā Righteousness will go before Him,
And shall make His footstepsĀ ourĀ pathway.ā€

In this world where we witness destruction, at every point we see, hear and witness things that violate our conscience as believers. In these moments, we are tempted to react emotionally, with anger, with hatred, with unforgiveness rising in our hearts.

If we look at our situation and the world around us through human eyes, we tend to forget that what is real in the sight of God is our spirit and that the greatest battle is the one in our heart.

Are you angry, frustrated and upset today at the hands of darkness at work in humanity? Come to God in prayer for mercy, truth and righteousness. Let this Psalm remind you that God is the Creator and Judge of all. We are called to surrender our hearts to Him, who speaks peace in conflict and uses the weapon of righteousness to fight for us.

Despite taking great care of our physical appearance, so many of us are discouraged, frustrated, fearful, angry, bitter and offended inside ā€“ and this is what shows through our words and behaviour, no matter how much we try and hide it. Why? Because our heart is not cleansed and our mind not refreshed.

CONVICTED BY YOUR CONSCIENCE

Often, the loudest rebuke is the one from the inside of us. Because the motive of our heart cannot be concealed, and no one knows us better than we do ourselves. So, if we are convicted by our conscience, there is hope for us.
